Welcome to Votopin. We are looking forward to showing you a new way to share your opinions, learn about your friends and make new friends in the process! To enable us to provide the Services to you, we will collect data about our registered members. To inform you fully about what data we collect and how we collect it, we have drafted this Privacy Policy. For other legally binding terms of access and use of our website and other services, please refer to our Terms of Use.

When you use our Site or Services, and when you submit or post personal information or any Content, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use and enter into a legally binding contract with us. You expressly agree to the processing and collection of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

What we collect:

We collect information you provide us with during registration and while using our Site and Services. We also collect any other information and Content you submit during your use of the Site and Services. We will store any information you communicate to us through emails or by any other means of communication. When you register, we will create a profile for you that includes your name and any other information you want to provide, including, but not limited to, your gender, age, location, relationship status, your bio and a profile picture. We may collect information about your location in a variety of ways, including through social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and other third party sites (“Social Network(s)”) and through functionality enabled in our Services. If you register for our Site or Services through a Social Network, we may use the information we collected about you from the Social Network to pre-populate your Profile. In addition, we may collect your current location data via your mobile device or browser to tag any of your activities while you are visiting or using the Site or Services. We may use your location data to provide you with local content and recommend local users. We may use location data for aggregated and anonymized data analysis.

You can choose not to provide us with certain information. The Site and Services are more relevant and effective when you provide this information, and you may be able to make more meaningful connections. We refer to all of the information contained in your Profile as your “Profile Information”. Your Profile Information is intended to be published on the Site, and will not be considered Personal Information under this Agreement, even if it contains Personal Information. You are able to delete all personally identifiable information in the profile, we will store and keep anonymous data, like your gender, age group, zip code and others.

If you access the Site or Services from a mobile device, we collect the unique device identifier, the application version you are using, and your event activity.

Should you make a purchase through the Site or Services, we may collect information about the purchase including the specific goods or services you purchase, the date of the purchase and the cost for it. We do NOT have access to your billing information, we will NOT store or access your credit card number and credit card expiration date. These are collected directly by the payment processor and governed by the payment processor’s privacy policy.

“Personal Information,” i.e. contact information including your name, address, email address, and/or telephone number and any other non-public information that is used or intended to be used to personally identify an individual, and any other non-public information that is associated with that information. This includes your user name, account number, and password, preferences you share with us, including communication and marketing preferences and your usage and interaction activity, including your purchase history.

“Anonymous Information,” i.e. information that is not used and does not personally identify an individual. This can be demographic information like your zip code, gender, age, education, your Internet protocol address, domain names, browser type, and access times.

“Technical Information,” i.e. information about your mobile device, including your device ID, device type and mobile service carrier, your IP address, browser type, referring and exit pages and your operating system. In short, we collect fairly standard technical information.

How we collect:

We gather the information you provide us with, including information about your friends and interactions on our Site or Service. When you sign up using a third party ID, like your Facebook ID, you will have to give us permission to collect information about you. With your permission, we may collect your email address and other publicly available information about you.
With your permission, we will retrieve your connection information on third party Social Networks, including your friends list to provide our services.

Your settings and handling information:

When you add an opinion, you may set it as “Public” or “Private”. “Public” means that your opinions will be available to the public. “Private” means that your opinions will not be visible to others, but will still be included anonymously in the aggregate of public opinion.

Our users with access to your opinions will be able to share them wherever they want. We do not allow users to distribute Private Opinions outside of Votopin. Unfortunately, we cannot prevent another user with access to your Private Opinions from taking a screenshot or otherwise bypassing our Site or Services and distributing Private Opinion.

You may share your activity through your Social Networks, and you may allow us to do so on your behalf.

You may create your own topic and ask for opinions. Your topics will be visible to and accessible by the public.

What we do with your information:

We may use your Personal, Anonymous, and Technical Information to provide you and other Members with services and customer support, calculate like-ness scores between you and other Members and recommend other like-minded Members to you. We may use your Personal, Anonymous, and Technical Information to deliver targeted content to you or to restrict the distribution of a topic to Members within a particular age group. Based on the Personal, Anonymous, and Technical Information we collect we may market our products and services and those of third parties to you that we believe may be of interest to you. This includes the serving of personalized advertisements. We will not disclose your Personal Information to third parties without your permission when serving personalized advertisements to you. We may allow advertisers to choose certain characteristics of the Members they would like to target and to whom their advertisements will be delivered based on the Personal Information we collected from you. For example, if you tend to share opinions or ask questions about automobiles, we might use that interest to show you ads for automobiles.

Regardless of your privacy settings, we may share anonymized aggregated information, including your opinion data, log data, activity data and other information that cannot be linked to you personally for industry analysis and demographic profiling. We may share anonymized information freely and without restriction. Any information we collect from you, even if it is anonymized and presented in the aggregate as part of a pool of data, may contain particular or specific information, attitudes, opinions, or clues to your identity which may be identifiable to others who know you or who are trying to identify the source of the information.

We may disclose your information to a parent company, any subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under a common control (collectively, “Affiliates”), in the event we have such Affiliates in the future, in which case we will require our Affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy; to a company that merges with us, acquires us, or purchases our assets, in which case such company may continue to process your Personal Information as set forth in this Privacy Policy; or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to (a) resolve disputes, investigate problems, or enforce our Terms of Use; (b) comply with relevant laws or to respond to requests from law enforcement or other government officials relating to investigations or alleged illegal activity, in which case you hereby authorize us to disclose Personal Information without subpoenas or warrants served on us; or (c) protect and defend our rights or property or the rights and property of you or third parties.

What you can do with your information:

You may change or update your information, including your profile data, opinions, and comments at any time. You may delete personally identifying opinion data, Personal Opinions, at any time. If you delete your data, we will keep the underlying aggregate data, for example, an opinion you stated without linking it to you directly. Any data we keep will be anonymized, and may include your aggregate usage and opinion data. We will keep a history of our users’ and Members’ opinions over time.

Any new or modified information you provide will be subject to the then current Privacy Policy and its terms. You may always change your privacy settings. Any change cannot be retroactive and will only apply to information going forward. This means, if you, us or a third party has already disclosed some of your Personal Information or Profile Information to other third parties, we cannot access that Personal Information or Profile Information any longer and cannot retroactively force the deletion or modification of this information.

To the extent we are technically capable and legally allowed to, we will delete all Profile Information and Personal Information upon receipt of a request to delete this information. Upon our receipt of a request to delete information or deactivate an account, we will delete the relevant information from our active databases and take the account offline to the extent that we can. We will keep Anonymous Information and Technical Information as part of our data pools. We may keep your Profile Information and your Personal Information for a period of 90 days in case you decide to come back before deleting it to the best of our capabilities. Remember that we cannot access or delete Personal Information or Profile Information that was shared by others.


You may not use our Site or Services if you are under 13 years of age. The Site and Services are not directed to children and children are not eligible to use our Services. Should we become aware that a user is under 13 years old, we will block that user from accessing the Site or Services, and will delete any data relating to that user.

Cookies and third-party cookies:

We may use a third party tracking service to track and analyze Anonymous Information from users of our Site. Third parties may use Cookies to help track user behavior. Additionally, we may also enable advertisers and ad servers to promote third-party products and/or services by placing advertisements on the Site. These advertisers and ad servers may use Cookies in order to monitor information about their advertisements. Clicking on such advertisements will take you to the website of a third-party or the advertiser. This Privacy Policy is only for our Site and Services, any third party site will have its own Privacy Policy. Please check these when accessing any third party Site.

We may use Cookies and URLs to gather information about the date and time of your visit and the solutions and information you viewed or searched, which advertisements were displayed, viewed or which advertisements you clicked on.

“Cookies” are small pieces of information that a website sends to your browser while you are viewing a website.

We may use both session Cookies, which expire once you close your web browser, and persistent Cookies, which stay on your browser until you delete them, to improve your experience on the Site. Persistent Cookies can be removed by following your Internet browser help file directions. If you choose to disable Cookies, you may experience session errors and may need to log-in again for each page you visit on the Site.

We may, through our use of Cookies and web bugs, keep you logged into our Site, track your session history, collect your click-stream data, and personalize your experience on the Site. We may use your Anonymous Information to analyze usage patterns to allow us to enhance the Site or Services, improve our internal operations and the content of our software, notify visitors about updates to our Site or Services, and improve the efficacy of our content and advertisements that appear on the Site. We may also use your Anonymous Information (including Cookies) to market our products and services to you, whether on our Site or on third party websites.

Our Relationship with Social Networking Site

With your permission, you may connect with our Site or Services through social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and others (“Social Networks”), giving us access to your data on these Social Networks. We work with the relevant Social Network’s application protocol interface (“API”) to allow you to authorize us to access your account on the relevant Social Network on your behalf. In order to provide this authorization, you need to log-in to the relevant Social Network directly through our Site. Once authorized, the Social Network will provide us a token that allows the Social Network to recognize us when we ask, for access to your account information or to post information. You will be able to revoke our access to any Social Network from within your account with Votopin.

How we communicate with you:

We may send you communications via email about the Site and Services. You can opt out of receiving certain communications from us by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of each email. Even if you unsubscribe or opt-out, we may still have to contact you at your subscribed email address about important information regarding any changes to or breaches of our Terms of Use or Privacy Policy.

Information disclosed to third-parties:

This Privacy Policy addresses only our use and disclosure of information we collect from you and about you from your use of our Site or Services. Any information you disclose to others, including other Members or promotional partners we may have, is not governed by this Privacy Policy. We do not control the privacy policies of third parties or their behavior. The Site or Services may contain links to other websites that are not owned or controlled by us. We have no control over, do not review and are not responsible for the privacy policies of or content displayed on such other websites. When you click on a third party link, you will leave our Site or Services and go to another site. During this process, another entity may collect Personal Information or Anonymous Information from you.

Third-parties with whom Personal Information and Profile Information may be shared:

With your permission, we share Personal Information and Profile Information with advertisers and publishers who may create topics on our Site or Services and with advertisers who may buy advertisements on our pages. You may change which information we share, and which information you categorize as Personal or Profile Information in your account settings at any time within the limits set out in this Privacy Policy.

Notification of Changes:

We will inform you of any changes or revisions to the Privacy Policy at or by posting a notice of the changes to this Policy on our blog ( and other places we deem appropriate, so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use any information in accordance with the Privacy Policy in force at the time we collected the information. If a change to our Privacy Policy changes how your personally identifiable information is treated, this change will not apply to you without your affirmative consent. However, if after a period of thirty (30) days you have not consented to the new or changed Privacy Policy, we will have to suspend your account unless you decide to consent to the new or changed Privacy Policy. Until such consent or suspension, your Personal Information and Profile Information will be treated under the Privacy Policy in force when you began your membership. Upon suspension, your Profile Information or Personal Information will be treated as if you had deactivated your account.
